Traditionally “male” disease are various pathologies of the urogenital system, such as prostatitis, prostate adenoma or malignant tumors, sexual dysfunction and other similar states. In fact, the list of andrological problems is much wider.
Modern men find time for a variety of things, but often can not devote a minute to their health. Even if they have symptoms, they prefer to solve problems on their own, without the help of professionals. Unfortunately, sometimes this attitude ends sadly. My Canadian Pharmacy will try to explain the importance of proper treatment of this illness.
“Connected by a single chain”
If you suspect the working efficiency of one organ you need to remember that the human body is a complex dynamic system. Any imbalance will incapacitate an entire group or even several groups of organs.
For example, heart disease and blood vessels inevitably lead to violations of sexual function over time. Moreover, the interval between these events can make 1-3 years. Why? Because blood flow to the genital organs deteriorates, testosterone production reduces. At a pressure above 140/90 mm Hg male testosterone level is lower than at the normal blood pressure, and this, in turn, negatively affects fertility. Timely undiagnosed pathology veins, testicles and spermatic cord (varicocele) can cause male infertility. One of the mechanisms of infertility in case of varicocele is a violation of the blood supply to the tissue and testicular thermoregulation that leads to inhibition of the function seminiferous epithelium. As a result, sperm quantity reduces and motility indicators are getting worse.
If cardiovascular diseases goes together with obesity, the risk of pathologies development is getting higher. It is always accompanied by changes in hormonal levels and may cause erectile dysfunction as well as infertility. Unsupervised administration of drugs for erectile dysfunction can trigger the development of cardiovascular diseases, myocardial infarction, cerebral stroke. That is why treatment should be conducted only by a specialist.
Erectile dysfunction is often a problem of men who consume alcohol, have diseases of the genitourinary system and experiencing nervous exhaustion.
Patients suffering from diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, gout, fatty liver disease, varicose veins and osteoporosis also have a risk for development of andrological pathologies. They are recommended to visit an andrologist prophylactically.
The general somatic pathologies may be related to another common male problem – neurogenic bladder. The symptoms of this condition are the following:
- frequent urination;
- urinary incontinence;
- abdominal pain and painful urination;
- sometimes urinary retention.
Neurogenic bladder may be a consequence of diabetes, multiple sclerosis, trauma, malignancy, and other diseases. it’s impossible to normalize urination without proper treatment.
As these diseases often have a rather intimate nature, patients do not always address a specialist in time. This can lead to very unfortunate consequences.
The importance of qualitative diagnostics
With the appearance of delicate problems a man must undergo qualitative survey to be diagnosed. It makes no sense to treat the symptoms, not identifying the true cause.
Diagnostic measures should include not only laboratory tests of urine and ultrasound of genitals, but also special tests and specialists consultation. For example, a neurologist should participate in the diagnosis of neurogenic bladder – he conducts neuromyography. In case of hormonal disorders, a patient is examined by an endocrinologist, in case of concomitant cardiac pathology – by a cardiologist. Only joint efforts may help overcome the disease.
Do not forget about the need for ultrasound of the prostate (prostate) and seminal vesicles. It is used in the complex diagnostics of such diseases as cancer of the prostate, prostatitis, violation of potency, male infertility, and others.
Other useful examination is ultrasonic investigation of the penis blood vessels It’s conducted together with Doppler sonography and it highly informative for identifying erectile dysfunction.
In the diagnosis of varicocele a crucial role is played by ultrasound with Doppler scrotum, holding Valsalva maneuver (in addition to physical examination). Such a study helps evaluate the blood flow in the venous vessels of the scrotum.
An important study for men is hormonal profile (screening or detailed examination) – a complexe evaluation of the hormonal regulation of reproductive function.
And, of course, we should not forget that all the diagnostic events are of great preventive value. Men should undergo regular medical examinations every two years to protect themselves from such serious problems, as benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction (impotence) and infertility.
Do I need the andrologist’s help if there are no peculiar problems?
According to statistics from the World Health Organization, men are most afraid of three things:
- prostate cancer;
- heart attack.
But even if a man feels completely healthy, it is recommended to undergo blood tests, urine tests and visit an andrologist periodically. Diseases (such as cancer or urinary tract infection) can be developing for a long time without causing any signs or manifesting general non-specific symptoms – fatigue, general weakness.
We must remember that the risk of developing certain diseases may change with the age, so the dispensary inspection program is made up separately for different age groups: from 20 to 40 years, from 40 to 60 years of age and for men over 60. By taking just a few days a year for your health cheking, you can keep it for many years, but ignoring the signals of trouble – you may lose your health forever.
